Catering Trends!
Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at 6:44PM Ciao! The last two weeks I have been in Italy, touring 12 cities and eating enough pizza and Caprese panini's for 5 people. Oh and the Gelato! I must of had 2 a day for 13 days straight :)
So, while I am thinking of food- I thought I would write a quick blog on catering trends for the Fall and 2012!
- We are seeing meals that are less plated and easily accessible. Heavy appetizers served on spoons, lollipop sticks, and skewers are becoming the new thing! It is easier to people to mingle and walk around to grab a bite without having to juggle a plate and wine glass.

- One of my favorites and something that I think brings a lot of personality and your own style into an event- comfort food. Grilled cheese, mini burgers, ice cream! I recently attended an event where we had mini burgers and French fries as an appetizer. I was instantly comforted and everyone was talking about how fun and creative it was.

- Local food- a perfect way to go with the organic/natural theme, as well as boosting the economy in your hometown. Plus, when attending an event in Maryland- crab cakes are a must or in Maine- lobster and why not have it from your own neck of the woods?
- Smaller desserts and pastries- yummy! Being raised by my Italian mother, we have always had pastries at every event from Christmas to birthdays. Pastries are elegant and can be decorated as simple as you want or as extravagant as you want. Smaller desserts are my absolute favorite because you can have a taste of everything! Mini donuts, cookies and cakes=heaven!

Are your mouths watering yet?! I would love to hear about other trends that you are seeing or using on your own event! Bon Appetit!
